Mattress firmness is summed up by the initial sensation that is perceived when we lie down on a mattress . When we lie down on it, it may push us outwards and we may notice that the surface of the mattress is compressed. You could say that this mattress is of high firmness .

Factors for choosing the ideal mattress firmness

1. Sleeping position. This is the most important factor that will determine your ideal firmness level . Side sleepers typically need a firmness rating of 3-6. Stomach sleepers need a rating of 5-7. Back sleepers need a rating of 4-8. If you change positions often during the night, try to find a mattress with a balanced firmness rating that will accommodate all of your sleeping positions as much as possible.
2. Weight and body type. Body type and weight are very important factors to consider. Large people are generally going to need a thick mattress that is able to support their weight consistently. Also, heavy people often find that soft mattresses sink too much due to their weight and size. Thinner people tend to be in more contact with the top layers of the mattress and less with the core and base. Thinner people look for mattresses where the top layers conform to their needs.
3. General rule of thumb. If you're not sure what type of mattress firmness is best, the recommendation is to try a firmness level of 6 (medium firmness). This is the most common firmness level and the one preferred by most consumers. When in doubt, try medium firmness mattresses.
4. Soft mattresses. Soft or soft mattresses with a medium-low firmness can be perfect if your preferences and needs fit your characteristics. However, these mattresses are the ones that receive the most complaints in the industry from consumers, largely due to lack of knowledge. Many people buy soft mattresses based on their popularity, not realizing that they are buying a mattress that is too soft.
